Observe markets carefully if bought for short term

Blog meant for 14 March 2018 Wednesday

Dear friends,

Extremely volatile day for markets as it was quite positive and then became negative and finally closed flat at end of day. Nifty closed 5 points higher. However, global cues are quite negative tonight. European and US markets are trading negative currently. Hence, our markets may be little flat or negative tomorrow.

Nifty is still in Don’t Buy zone.

The indications for individual stocks for short term are –

DON’T BUY – HINDALCO, MARUTI, SBI, YES BANK, AXIS BANK, HDFC BANK, M&M

SELL – TCS (There was no opportunity to buy today since the Tata promoter company sold some of their own shares in TCS to raise money for some other payment. It opened lower itself and stayed lower. So, luckily there was no chance to buy itself since it did not open near yesterday’s closing price).

HOLD – Reliance Industries, TITAN, INFOSYS, ASIAN PAINT, HDFC

WAIT TO BUY – VEDANTA

WAIT TO SELL – ITC

Carefully observe markets especially if you have bought for short term.

Continue to invest on a monthly basis for long term only in the stocks suggested in the Workshop.

Question of the Day

Question – How to see the global cues of different Stock Markets of the world?

Answer –
Global cues are important to observe since it gives some sense of how our markets may trade on that particular day. Usually if the Asian markets which open the earliest everyday open either very positive or very negative, then there is a high chance that Indian markets may also follow it.

Since the entire world is inter connected, all major stock markets are dependent on each other for direction of the markets. The US markets is the most influential market since it is the biggest economy of the world and any effect on it will usually have some effect on other global economies and markets.

Global cues can be seen on moneycontrol.com on the homepage after scrolling slightly downwards under the heading ‘Global markets’ on the right side. Make it a habit to see the global cues before taking any decision to buy for short term.
