Blog meant for 11 Jan 2018 Thursday
Dear Friends,
Last two days have been very quiet for the markets as Nifty moved in a very narrow range. Finally, Nifty closed almost flat, down 5 points. Global cues are mainly negative in US and Europe and hence our markets may be little weak tomorrow.
Nifty is neither able to rise too much nor has it fallen much in the last 2-3 days. Markets will have to move either way in the coming days. The lack of movement in the market is also because of the upcoming Union Budget in February since investors do not know what announcements and decisions will be taken by the Finance Minister.
The analysis for Short term as per technical analysis is as follows:
Nifty is in Hold zone.
The indications for individual stocks are –
THE HOLDS ARE- TITAN, VEDANTA, HINDALCO, M&M, AXIS BANK, YES BANK, ASIAN PAINT, HDFC, TCS, ITC, INFOSYS, RELIANCE INDUSTRIES, HDFC BANK
THE DON’T BUYS – SBI
WAIT TO SELL – MARUTI
There are no fresh buy indications for short term as of now since most individual stocks are in Hold zone. Just be patient and do not unnecessarily Buy.
Long term investors can purchase bluechips on a regular basis.
There is expectation that the Government wants to tax long term capital gains at a small percentage instead of the current tax free status. Also, Government may extend the definition of short term in stock markets to three years instead of one year similar to how it is for other assets like gold etc.
Read this interesting article where it is discussed that there should be tax on capital gains from shares –

We are conducting a Special Session highlighting the efficiency of One Time Investment for long term and practically invest a Lumpsum amount in the Stock Markets in already researched and time tested bluechip companies.
For example, an investment of Rs.13.02 lakhs made around 18 years back in Jan 2000 as One time Investment in selected bluechip companies suggested by us, has grown to Rs.9.01 crores in Jan 2018. This works out around 26% p.a. average returns without attracting long term capital gains tax.
