Markets consolidating

Dear friends,

As expected and mentioned in the blog yesterday itself, markets were weak today due to weak global cues. Nifty fell by 50 points.
Today, Asian markets were negative but European markets have also closed positively and the US markets are also trading quite positively as of now.

Nifty index is in Hold Zone.

Question from a Participant –

Many people claim to make money from intra-day trading. Is it true? Can we make regular income from day trading?

Our Answer –

There are many people claiming on TV, newspapers etc that intra-day trading (buying and selling shares within one day) is very profitable and easy to do. When somebody says the above, normally people get excited and impressed since they dream of quitting their job and sitting at home and earning lot of money without much work.

In theory, this looks like a fantastic opportunity. However, when practically doing it, traders incur lot of losses and then get frustrated and give up after losing thousands or Lakhs of Rupees and also after wasting lot of time.

What usually happens is that in the beginning, there is something called ‘beginner’s luck’ and traders make some money. This gives them lot of confidence and then they continue to do intra-day trading regularly. From then on, they start making lot of losses and they keep trying until they lose their entire capital and then they give up.

Out of our experience of interacting with Lakhs of people over the years all over the world, we have Never seen or heard of any person who has consistently made profits from intra-day trading. Some days they make some profits but on other days, they make bigger losses and hence they make a Net Loss over a period.

Unfortunately, the greed in people makes them believe that such quick and easy profits are possible and only after trying it on their own and making losses over a period do they learn their lesson.

There are also plenty of people who claim to teach people through Workshops to make profits on a daily basis from Stock Markets. We discourage it.

Indulging in any such activity is like ‘putting your hands in fire and thinking that your hand will not get burnt.’ Unfortunately, the only way to know that fire will burn all hands no matter how skillful you are is by getting your hands burnt.

We urge you to not experiment with Intra-day Trading, Futues & Options, Commodities trading & Forex trading unless you are ready to bear losses.
